Fall is right around the corner, which means our little buddies are starting to explore the many fun things that come with the season! Especially in the infant room. Their whole week was filled with all things leaves! They coloured in a leaf picture, made a picture using leaves, made prints of leaves, coloured a tree that had leaves on it and then got to colour in different kinds of leaves in a variety of colours. When it was time for gross motor, they explored wind with leaves and ran around chasing them; they played in leaves, threw them around, picked them up around the play yard, and then pumped on them. It is cool all the ways to learn and move just by using leaves!
Next door, in Miss Kim’s room, our Simcoe preschoolers were learning about a fall staple… can you guess what that is? And your clue – Not pumpkins…
APPLES! 🍎--> They got to create apples using bingo dabbers, made a stamp apple craft, an apple dot picture, create a paper plate candy apple and then a handprint apple. For sensory, they had fun with playdough, stacked apples, and then counted apples.
At the other centre, Miss Ashley’s preschoolers were exploring the rainbow! Each day was a different colour!
Monday – red: Finger painting with red paint, colour tag, and completing a colour puzzle.
Tuesday – blue: using a paintbrush that had to paint with the colour blue, took part in a colour scavenger hunt, and then played a colour memory matching game.
Wednesday – yellow: They painted a bright yellow sun, worked out and stretched with colour yoga from Cosmic Kids, and then sorted colours.
Thursday – orange: painted with orange using sponges and then mixed colours to create new ones!
Friday – green: Marble painting with the colour green, weekly dance party and then had fun with playdough.
In the toddler room, they had a colourful week too! They coloured using various coloured markers, finger painting tie-dye, matched colours, played with watercolour paint, and made a sponge paint craft.
We can’t wait to see what next week has in store! Stay tuned!
