With some of our friends back in school, the centre had a bit of a quieter week with summer camp over, but that doesn’t mean it was quiet! There was still a ton of fun activities and happy children! Of course, a common theme for our classrooms was Back to School! We are so excited that our friends get to go back to school in person, see their friends, and make more memories!

Miss Ashley’s Preschoolers are not in school yet, but they had a nice school-themed week with some great crafts and games to get them excited for when they start school. They were going to take a special field trip to see Theodore Tugboat down at Navy Yard, so they started their morning learning about the little Tugboat and singing wheels on the bus. For craft, they made school buses, and they got ready to send their friends off to big kid school. They played “What Time is it Mr. Wolf” to get moving and then got ready to take their little field trip. This field trip was so exciting because it was the first one they had taken since the start of the Pandemic. It was nice to get outside of the centre and take a walk in the park. On Wednesday, they had an apple-filled day! They made little bingo dabber apples. How cute!? They continued the week with the “All About Me” craft and then got moving with 123Race! Friday was a free day with free painting to music, and a dance party! That is a great way to end the week!
Miss Josie followed in the footsteps of each day’s theme and had very similar ideas for her toddlers! She had her kids make paper plate school buses, handprint apples, fill your backpack craft, and colouring a colour pencil.

Our extended care kids had a sports-themed week with Miss Bryanna.
- Tuesday: Baseball
- Wednesday: Soccer
In the preschool room, it was an exciting week of really cool crafts and activities. For craft, they had cotton ball stamping, abstract art, and coffee filter colour combining. They played frisbee toss, colour hop and had a fun time with the parachute. To calm down, and when it was time for sensory, they did a skittles experiment, a climbing colours activity, and had fun with playdough.
Next door in toddler, they travelled to space! They got to make a bingo dabber painting of planet earth, a painting of a planet picture and then coloured in planets with markers. To get moving, they had spaced themed action cards and acted out what the card said. They moved around and pretended to be an astronaut and then played with the action cards again. They must have been entertaining! She brought space to sensory time too! They had a water bead sensory exploration, played with moon dough, and then made space slime. For a small group activity, they learned about the solar system with Blippi on Youtube, sang space songs together and danced, and then read an ET comic book for the kids.
We can’t wait to see what next week has in store! Stay Tuned!
