Is it August already? Or are you Julying to me? 😂
This summer is flying by! But that doesn’t mean the fun is slowing down! We are just getting started, and there is way more to come.
PRESCHOOL
This week our preschoolers turned the classroom into Disneyland. They had a magical adventure into the world of royalty, mouse ears, and much more.
Dalhousie: What is the best way to start your Disneyland adventure?... MOUSE EARS, of course! They designed their very own Micky and Minnie mouse ears.

Tuesday was all about Cars. They made popsicle stick cars based on the characters from the movie and then had the chance to ride down the ramp on Lightening McQueen.
After Cars, they moved on to the world of Toy Story! They made Forky paper bag puppets and then watched a movie. To finish the week, they made sparkly Disney Castles.
Simcoe: Our preschoolers started each morning with singing O’ Canada and the Good Morning Song and then practice their counting skills with a Disney Counting game. They made a Micky mouse craft using construction paper and glue. For the rest of the craft, they explored the many ways you can use paper plates to create their favourite characters from cartoons. They made a paper plate Forky from the Movie Toy Story, paper plate lion masks – where they then acted like lions around the classroom for their gross motor skills – and then finished the week with paper plate Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc. Their other gross motor activities included ball toss, running in between cones, hopping over stones, and monster knockdown. They practiced their cognition skills using a Micky mouse memory game, Cars memory game, matching game and then counted 1 through 10 using Mickey Mouse.
TODDLER
Dalhousie: They brought the Zoo to them! They created their very own handprint giraffe, painted a pair of binoculars, and glued together a hippo. What an exciting week 😊.
Simcoe: Our toddlers at Simcoe had an animal-filled week too! On Monday, it was cheetah day. They stamped cheetah footprints on paper for craft, moved liked a cheetah, looked at forest animals in a bottle, and then counted the dots on the cheetah to practice their numeracy skills. On Tuesday, it was bunny day! They sponge-painted a bunny, moved like a bunny, searched for bunnies in shaving cream, and then counted how many bunnies were on the table. On Wednesday, it was a mix of themes. They made fox masks, hopped like bunnies, played with animals in a bin, and played with tools. On Friday, it was another jumble of animal-themed activities. They coloured deer pictures, ran like deer outside, played with balloons, and then matched paw prints to help with cognition and memory skills.

SCHOOL-AGE
Our school-agers spent a lot of their time outdoors or talking about the outdoors last week. It was OUTDOOR ADVENTURES! On Monday, they got to decorate their mud puddles using construction paper, markers and animal stickers. For a special activity, they created edible mud using pudding, Oreos, and candy. They cleaned off on Tuesday with Water Day! Our school-agers changed into bathing suits and soaked up some rays with our rainbow water feature and water balloons. Whats a better way to cool off on a hot day? That is sure is a great way.

On Wednesday, Mr. Max and his friends put on a scooter show for our Big Buddies. Some kids even brought their bikes and scooters, and our special guests showed them tricks and some new skills.
They ended the week off with a special guest food truck Joyful Lynns and had a Picnic in the Yard. MMMM.
