We are almost at the end of August! Time flies when you are having fun. And oh boy are friends are having some fun times. This week, summer camp had a unique twist; as we mentioned before, our school-agers and preschoolers celebrated a year’s worth of holidays in one week! We are going to do this week’s blog a little differently than usual. Instead of looking at each classroom and what they were up to, we will break the week down day by day.
Monday
Our little buddies knew that this would be a grand Halloween celebration right at the start of the day. They could feel it in their bones…
Anyways, our summer camp friends started their week off with a spooky vibe celebrating Halloween! They held a costume party and made spooky and silly Halloween masks to wear with their costumes. They looked so cute, and we always love spooky season! It's fang-tastic. At Simcoe, they had made q-tip pumpkins. 🎃
Our Simcoe toddlers didn’t celebrate Halloween, but they were getting ready for back to school! It was a day filled with Bus themed activities and crafts. They painted buses on paper, played outside, had a bus sensory bin, and then calmed down and relaxed while listening to the wheels on the bus book. How nice!
Tuesday
Ho ho ho! MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎅!!!
Our summer camp friends jingled all the way to Christmas in August! They made Christmas tree ornaments made with glitter and instant snow. Miss Kim’s class decorated their very own Christmas trees.
Our infants visited the animal kingdom and explored all things about that theme. For craft, they coloured a picture of a duck. They also got to play with plastic animals, make handprints of animals, explore various animals, and sing Five Little Monkeys. 🐒
Wednesday
Hopping right into Wednesday, summer camp celebrated the hoppy holiday of Easter! They decorated easter eggs and had an easter egg hunt. How exciting!!
In the infant room, continuing the animal week. They coloured in animals, walked like a duck, played with a duck in water, read animal books, and played a game called 5 little ducks went.
Thursday
Our infants have today and tomorrow of animals. They are coming to an end! But, they still have event-filled days. In summer camp, they went around the globe and explored different holidays celebrated. They had to make a pig craft, flap like a chicken, watch animals eating grass outside, and count and sort animals.
Friday
It’s Friday!! Time for a birthday party! Our summer camp friends celebrated the world of birthdays and had a huge birthday celebration. The preschoolers made birthday hats, and our school-agers had a dance party with DJ Max. They had such a great time playing with the balloons and glow sticks and dancing to their favourite songs!
Our infants finished their week with track stamping, jumping like a kangaroo, putting frogs on the leaves game, looking at big and small animals, and playing pass the duck together.
Sadly, next week is the final week of summer camp for our little and big buddies. It’s going to be a fantastic fun-filled week to say the proper goodbye to summer! Stay tuned! They are making it count.
