Miss Ashley’s preschoolers had a week full of picnic fun! This week’s theme was TEDDY BEAR PICNIC! And man, oh man, it was a week full of picnic activities and crafts. They got to make paper plate watermelons, picnic baskets, and craft, and picnic plates. Some picnic activities consisted of walking while balancing a plate on their heads, having a dance party, and having a rain date. On Wednesday, it was water day. So, our little buddies had to bring a change of clothes because they got to play with WATER! Their Teddy Bear Picnic, which was scheduled to be outside, had to be brought inside because of the rain. But a little rain did not stop them from enjoying their picnic! The Preschoolers got to bring in one special stuffed animal to enjoy their yummy picnic with. They had a blast sharing their snacks with their little friends. For craft, they made little teddy bear hats. Even though they had to stay inside, it was still an enjoyable day! Our Simcoe preschoolers followed along with the picnic theme and enjoyed themselves too. 🧸🍉🐜
But the picnic wasn’t the only notable thing about this week for the preschoolers… Monday, most of our preschoolers graduated to kindergarten! They had a ceremony with friends and family to help our little buddies celebrate their big day! The event began at 3 pm. Our families gathered outside around the stage in anticipation of seeing their little ones come out from the centre. They all looked so cute, dressed in their caps and gowns with huge smiles on their faces. Our graduates sang a song for their families, and the school-agers even prepared something too. Some special friends made an appearance; Hamm, Rex, and Mr. Potato Head from Toy Story came to wish our graduates congratulations too! Miss Ashley and Miss Tammy shared some special moments from the kids' journey through daycare, how proud they were and how happy but sad they are to see them grow and move on to big kid school. There were tears, but there were also smiles and happiness for our now kindergarteners.

Miss Josie’s toddlers were taking on more summer fun! Monday, they were all about fireworks. They learned their colours and then made pipe cleaner fireworks. On Tuesday, they looked at feathers and used them to continue practicing their colours and then paint with them. Wednesday was quite sunny in the classroom. They sang Mr. Sun and made paper plate suns. They ended off the week with juice-themed activities and paper plate melon making. How fun! 🎆
Our Summer Camp kids also had a fun-filled week! They were WILD ABOUT NATURE. They started their week with a virtual class with the Royal Canadian Falconry and learned about Birds of Prey. On Tuesday, Nature Detective Kelly from the Nature Detective Agency recruited and trained our big buddies to become Junior Nature Detectives to earn their badge and begin helping to solve nature’s mysteries! They learned about tracking - where to look for tracks and why we need to search. They practiced their tracking skills by guessing which animal made which tracks. Next, they learned about reptiles and amphibians and pretended to act like frogs. They discovered that sometimes the best way to understand animals is to see their behaviours and how they act in nature. Their last part of the training was to see how much they remember by playing HULLABALOO. They had to perform an action to a particular animal that was called out. “HOP TO AMPHIBIAN, RUN TO SOMETHING WITH A TAIL, CRAWL TO A MAMMAL, etc.” They did such a great job! They ended the training by looking at a coyote skull, deer skull, deer antlers, lynx paw, stag beetles, and moose jaw. To make it more fun, they had to guess which animal it was. They thought every one was a Dinosaur. They had a great time learning about nature, were eager to look and feel the bones, and were very knowledgeable about the stuff they talked about. The rest of the week was a water day, sand creation, and concluded the week with celebrating Mother Earth! 🦅🦴🌎🌳🐛
Miss Jordan and Miss Madison had quite a bit of fun activities planned for our extended care kids. They had a sensory day by playing with sandcastles. On Wednesday, they placed a necklace relay game. For movie day, they watched the kid’s movie Deep on Netflix. Saturday was a dance party. And Sunday, they made Jellyfish puppets. What a great week!
In Miss Janise’s toddler room, it was the rainbow week, but they were not talking about rainbows; they were learning about the colours in the rainbow. ROYGBIV. Each day of the week was a different colour. These activities were perfect for the kid’s cognition, spatial exploration, emotional and expression of feelings, communication, language and social skills. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Stay tuned for next week’s update on all the fun! 😁
